Learning Acceptance

I’s Story

I celebrates the introvert in all of us. I respect the reticence of all my students. If they need some quiet time in their minds, good. When they are ready to join in, we will be waiting and welcoming.

Journaling, Silent Writing

Writing is a good place to go when we want to be alone. It allows us to see how interesting we are. It is a lot of work, but I have asked my students to spend the last 5 minutes of class writing about what they experienced that day. I read and responded to everything. It was wonderful, and a lot of work, for me. Most importantly it was a real gift for my quieter students to express themselves and be heard.

Activity Sheet

Are you a creative person? I just have rough drafts for most of my activity sheets, maybe you can help me think of better designs for these.

I am an introvert, so I love having a little story that lets other introverts know everything is ok. This activity tries a fun way to find the funny side in all of us and in our language. Funhouse mirrors are being replaced by camera filters, but the effect is the same and still lots of fun. We can do the same thing with our words. Changing them around a bit to let them show their meaning. Hiding the “i” in Hdden. You can also try putting frowns and smiles in M 😦 🙂 dy. It gets a little complicated, but iconicity is a good place to start looking for more examples. That and your imagination.
